Interesting Toronto hockey news, The Ontario University Athletic board has suspended the enire Ryerson rams mens hockey team for drinking on a road-trip to New Jersey.
The team, which is 5-2 this season, will forfeit its next two games, a press release from the school said. Officially, the team and its players have been suspended for seven days.
Head coach Graham Wise, meanwhile, has been banned four games. Wise's Part-time assistant coach, Lawrence Smith, has been fired by the university.
Ryerson's athlete-student handbook restricts athletes from consuming alcohol while on road trips, according to the release.
"Each student-athlete is a representative of Ryerson and is highly visible to other people, regardless of whether the team meets on or off campus," Ryerson's student-athlete handbook states. "The student-athlete is responsible for his or her own behaviour at formal and informal, scheduled and unscheduled events."

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Carter Ashton has been suspended for two games, without pay, for boarding Calgary Flames forward Derek Smith on Wednesday, the NHL announced.
Ashton will forfeit $8,615.38 with the money going to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund, under the terms of the collective equipment.
“I was prepared for anything. It’s part of the process and I have to deal with it,” Ashton said of the suspension. “It’s a high speed game and collisions are going to happen. It’s unfortunate it happened the way it did. I’m just glad (Smith) is not hurt.”
Ashton will miss Saturday’s game in Vancouver, and Friday’s game at home to New Jersey. Troy Bodie, a healthy scratch in recent games, could suit up in Ashton’s place.
Ashton, who has one point in 25 games with the Maple Leafs over the past two seasons, drew a two-minute penalty on the play, plus a fighting major after Calgary’s Shane O’Brien stepped in.
Said Carlyle:”They deemed that Carter’s was a check from behind, so we take our medicine and go home and there’s no complaints, no excuses.”

Innisfil Kid Called Back to the Pros
The Maple Leafs announced on Wednesday that the team has recalled forwards Josh Leivo and David Broll and defenceman T.J. Brennan. With the three call ups, the team has assigned Trevor Smith and Jamie Devane to the Toronto Marlies.
Leivo, Broll and Brennan are all expected to take part in Wednesday’s practice at MasterCard Centre. Both Leivo and Broll have yet to play an NHL game while Brennan saw action in 29 games last season between Buffalo and Florida with 10 points (three goals, seven assists).
One player who was absent from practice was Joffrey Lupul who suffered a calf injury during Tuesday’s game. Lupul is considered day-to-day but will travel with the team to Nashville for Thursday’s game.
Jay McClement returned to practice after being with is wife for the birth of their son Reid on Tuesday.
